As always, the safety and well-being of our guests and team members is still our highest priority. With the impact of COVID-19, there have been increased interests from consumers in hygiene and safety which made us adapt new practices towards a “New Normal”.

In preparation to welcome travelers back to our resort, we have developed a program that redefines the clean and safety standards to ensure guests are able to enjoy an even cleaner and safer stay. Built upon our high standards of housekeeping and hygiene, this program will impact every step of the guest journey, from arrival to departure, which will include all of the following…

Temperature Checks – all guest, staff and visitors will be required to have their body temperature checked when entering the resort. Those with a temperature at or over 37.5°C will be subject to secondary screening. Those confirmed to have a temperature at or over 37.5°C will undergo further medical assessment and be directed to appropriate medical care.

Stay Safe Guestroom
– Check-in procedure will be with minimum contact and room keys are disinfected before handing over to guests.
– High-touch areas including light switch, door handles, TV remotes, temperature controller, water tap, toilet, refrigerator and utensils are sanitized.
– Sheets and linens are machine washed at a minimum of 70°C and properly sealed.
– Room cleaning time is pre-communicated with guests in order to reduce contact.

Food Safety
– The resort follows guidelines and is certified by the Ministry of Public Health on food safety and hygiene.
– Breakfast is pre-ordered daily with options of service at the restaurant or in-room at an indicated time.

Our Staff
– Additional Training: our staff received additional training on COVID-19 safety and sanitation protocols. Advance training for those with frequent guest contact including housekeeping, food & beverage, public areas, resort operations and security. Staff are reminded to stay home if they do not feel well and are also instructed on proper procedures if they notice a co-worker or guest with flu-like symptoms.
– Staff Protective Equipment: Appropriate protective equipment will be provided to and worn by all staff based on their role and responsibilities. Gloves will be provided to employees whose responsibilities require them.
– Back of House: The frequency of cleaning and disinfecting has been increased in back of house areas with an emphasis on staff dining areas, staff entrances, restrooms, offices, kitchens and service desks.
– Shared Equipment: Shared tools and equipment will be sanitized before, during, and after each shift or when the equipment is transferred to a new staff. This includes phones, computers and other communication devices, payment terminals, kitchen tools, engineering tools, cleaning equipment, keys, time clocks, and all other direct contact items used throughout the resort.

As we are prepared to welcome guests back to our resort, we want our guests to feel confident that a safe and hygienic environment that aligns with expert protocols in working to defeat COVID-19 awaits.

Protective Equipment – it is mandatory for all guest, staff, and visitors to wear a face mask when at the resort’s public spaces. The resort will prepare a personal care amenity kit for guests in all guest rooms, which will consist of a personal face mask and alcohol gel.

Public Area Cleanliness
– Increase frequency of cleaning public areas with hospital-grade disinfectants, especially at high-touch surfaces.
– Hand sanitizing liquid will be available in all public areas of the resort including entrances, near the front desk and restaurant.

Physical Distancing
–Front Desk: Staff will ensure 1.5 meters of separation whenever possible. For additional separation, transparent barriers have been installed in front desk area. Front desk agents will wear face-masks.
– Guest Queuing: All areas where guests queue are marked to indicate proper distancing. This includes the front desks, resort facilities, and restaurants.
– Restaurant and Bar: The restaurant and bar are arranged with reduced seating capacity to ensure appropriate distancing between each seated group of guests traveling together.
– Swimming Pools: Sunbeds configured to allow at least 1.5 meters of separation between every family or couple.

Thai Chicken Curry Rice Noodle Soup

Slightly spicy coconut red curry broth, with slurpable thin rice noodles, topped with fresh herbs, thinly sliced red onion, roasted peanuts and a squeeze of lime. Yes, this soup tastes every bit as good as it looks.

Beef Rendang

Rendang is an Indonesian meat dish originating from the Minangkabau people of Indonesia. Although culinary experts often describe Rendang as a curry, Rendang is usually not considered as such in Indonesia since it is richer and contains less liquid than is normal for Indonesian curries. In 2011 an online poll of 35,000 people by CNN International chose Rendang as the number one dish of their “World’s 50 Most Delicious Foods (Readers’ Pick)” list. In 2018, Rendang is officially recognized as one of 5 national dishes of Indonesia.

Fish Caprese

We bake a nice piece of fish fillet in a casserole dish on top of a beautiful Tomato Sauce, topped with homemade pesto, mozzarella cheese and tomato. The pesto adds such a great flavor and you never would have thought to put it on fish. Served with Pasta of your choice (Penne, Spaghetti or Fettucine.

Our website is finally translated in the French language and to celebrate this we have 2 French “Classic” dishes on our Specials Menu.

Blanquette de Porc

Translated this is pork meat in a white (wine) sauce.

As you might know, the owner of Isla Hayahay Beach Resort & Restaurant is from France and through him we managed to get our hands on an old family recipe. Of course, before we offered it to you as a Special, we had to try it and it is

Blanquette de Porc is Pork shoulder, slowly cooked in a broth made of white wine and herbs where the broth is used to make the sauce. This mouthwatering dish is served with buttered Fettuccine and goes very well with a cool glass of Chardonnay.

Quiche

Everybody know this French Classic.

A quiche is one of the most featured foods in cookbooks and restaurant menus around the world. It is a hearty, rich dish that can be made in many different ways. Our Quiche is made with real cheese, Cooked Ham and Spring Onions.

Quiche is great for lunch or as a snack but also makes a great dinner with some potato wedges.

There is nothing secretive about our Monthly Specials and we would love to teach you how to cook them yourself in your own kitchen.

Next to the delicious dishes we have on our menu we try to offer some great specials every month, just to spoil our guests even more. This month we did choose 2 Thai favorites, Chicken Cashew nuts and a wonderful Thai Red Curry.

Thai Massaman Chicken Curry

Juicy Chicken, potato and Cashew nuts in a creamy Thai Massaman Curry sauce that is not only the “real deal” but even better than you tasted until now.

The sauce has gotten the Isla Hayahay workover with some special ingredients to spoil your buds even more…

This cashew chicken is chunks of crispy chicken, crunchy veggies and roasted cashews tossed in a sweet and savory sauce.

What a great way to start the season! We have two new specials on the menu that will spoil your buds to the max!
The first special is mouth-watering and especially tasty after a long hot day.
Honey-Lemon Chicken on Turmeric Rice.
Sauteed Chicken, not fried, makes this dish healthy and fresh. The Honey-Lemon sauce perfectly balanced and the addition of fresh Green Beans and Cashew Nuts are the crown on the cake.

You will absolutely love this dish!

The second special is Satay Ayam

Satay Ayam or Chicken Saté is popular all over the world.
The marinated chicken cubes are grilled to keep them juicy and tender and are served with a delicious Peanut sauce.

We serve our Satay Ayam the Dutch way, with lots of sauce and with a choice of rice or French Fries.

Great as a snack or as a main dish with a beautiful and fresh Garden Salad.

Pizza Time!!

We finally could get our hands on a “Grandmother’s Recipe” for authentic Italian Pizza dough and the results are amazing!
We immediately extended our range of different pizzas on our menu.

Color is all we want…

The resort is becoming more and more colorful. Landscaping is an ongoing project and especially now, in the dry season, this is extremely rewarding.

Most plants start showing off their beauty with an explosion of color. We can’t wait until they become larger and larger and transform the resort to the color oasis we have in mind.

Our collection of different species of Hibiscus is slowly growing and the different forms, sizes and color of the Hibiscus flowers is really amazing. Next to the Hibiscus, the Philippines have so many incredible flowering plants to offer it makes the choice of which plants we will add to our garden very difficult…

We recently finished building our Souvenir Store!

It’s a little store where we, next to some daily items our guests might need like toothpaste, shampoo and Insect repellent, sell some pretty little Bohol souvenirs.
At the moment it is still the only souvenir store on Pangangan Island but we are sure there will be more in the future.

What can you find in our Souvenir Store?

There are some nice handicraft items, made by the locals on Pangangan Island, next to magnets, T-shirts, Towels and tiny stuffed Tarsiers… just to name a few. The collection will change regularly because we only have little stock and buy the things we like and would buy ourselves as a souvenir to take home. The prices are moderate… you already have a nice souvenir for under PhP 100!

A Balcony Upgrade was more than necessary, although the old look of the balconies was great with the rustic Bamboo. We chose to do the balcony upgrade with Mahogany and G’Melina wood and the result is amazing. The contrast between the red Mahogany and the “white” G’Melina wood is beautiful and the newly varnished Bamboo furniture completes the nice and warm “look” of our new balconies.

The floor of the balconies were made of bamboo strips before but now the floors are made of G’Melina it’s much more comfortable to walk on the balcony, especially barefoot.

The balcony upgrade of all the rooms is part of a long list of upgrades and improvements of existing structures in the resort, next to the new builds and replacement of some of the feature structures. A brand new Bar and a Souvenir Store are two examples of these new/replacement builds.

Our Junior Suite “The Loft” is a very spacious room and measures 60 square meters. It has windows in 3 of the walls that give you a 270 degree view over the resort, the swimming pool and the ocean. The suite is equipped with a King Size bed, spacious bathroom, minibar, coffee and tea making options and a comfy lounge corner to complete your private paradise in our resort.
